Norma June Thorlakson age 73, of Cavalier, ND, went to see her Lord Thursday, December 28, 2006, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 31, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Vidalin Cemetery, Hensel, ND.
Norma was born May 23, 1933, to Erwin and Cecelia (Sellheim) Papenfuss in Hamilton, ND. She graduated from Hamilton High School.
On November 16, 1952, she married Orville Thorlakson at the Vidalin Lutheran Church. She was a member of that church where she taught Sunday School. In 2005, they joined the United Lutheran Church.
She spent her years working at Miller's Cafĩ, Red Owl, Hartz Store, J&H Cafĩ, a daycare provider, and the Cavalier School lunch program. Norma was also a board member at the Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND.
Norma loved to spend time with her dear friends having coffee and playing cards. Her greatest joy in life, was to be surrounded by her loving family.
Survivors include her husband, Orville; children, Debra (Larry) Wilson, and sons, Tyler and Travis, Grand Forks, ND; Douglas (Lisa) Thorlakson, and son, Brennan, Cavalier, ND; Darlene (Brian) DeMars, and children, Alissa and Brady, Roseau, MN; Dale (Jackie) Thorlakson, and children, Parker and Ava, Jacksonville, FL; twin sister, Nira Fredericksen, Grafton ,ND; brothers, Clem Papenfuss, Fridley, MN; Louis Papenfuss, Park River, ND; Earl and Dennes Papenfuss, both of Cavalier, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
We will all miss our "Angel of Life" but we know she's in the Lord's house, enjoying eternal life. God bless you Mom.
