Norbert Borho, 89, formerly of Nekoma, ND, died January 21, 2017 in Dayton, Ohio.
Norbert Borho was born in Nekoma, ND on August 8, 1927, to Alex and Julia (Koehmstedt) Borho. He attended grade and high school in Nekoma, graduating in 1945. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and was on duty in the Philippines and the South Sea area. After working in Fargo for a time, he returned to Nekoma where he purchased the local store and tavern. He also did TV and small appliance repair work in the area. On June 12, 1970, he married Genevieve Dukart at St. Maryââ¬â¢s Cathedral in Fargo. After operating the grocery store in Nekoma for several years, he sold his business in Nekoma and operated the B&G Store in Hampden. In 1983, the Borho family moved to West Plains, Missouri, where he did electrical drafting for Perennial Energy. After three years, the Borhos moved to DeFuniak Springs, Fla., where he worked at the Best Western Motel. He also built a new home for his family, which is a lasting testimony to his master carpentry and design skills. At various times in his life, he traveled extensively in the U.S. as well as other countries including: Australia, Mexico, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Ecuador.
Norbert is survived by two daughters: Beth (Javier) Rosario of Dayton, OH and Suzanne Borho of South Korea; son Todd Borho of California; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gen Borho; parents Alex and Julia Borho; and all ten of his siblings: Les, Cy, Geneva, Arnold, Jim, Fr. Charles, Fritz, Jack, and a twin brother and sister who died in infancy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Burial will take place at St. Edwardââ¬â¢s Catholic Cemetery in Nekoma, ND.
