Muriel M. "Pidge" Tesmer, 79, of Walhalla, ND, died Monday, February 23, 2009, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Park Center-Walhalla Presbyterian Church, Walhalla. Visitation on Thursday, February 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Arrangements with Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND.
Muriel M. Symington was born September 9, 1929, at Neche, ND to Earl Duncan and Mary Beatrice (Gynn) Symington. She grew up and attended school in Neche graduating from high school in 1947.
On November 12, 1947, she married Merl D. Tesmer at Neche. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Walhalla area. For several years Pidge worked at the Walhalla Clinic. Merl passed away on March 8, 1990.
Pidge was a member of the Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, deacon, was active with the youth and Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Walhalla Senior Citizens and a life member of the Walhalla Country Club. The activities she enjoyed were golfing, bowling, and playing cards.
Survivors include her children, Richard Tesmer, Fargo, ND and Roberta (Kent) Mitchell, Frisco, TX, grandchildren, Suzanne (Tom) Karel and Nadine (Jon) Gibney, great grandchildren, Shelby Karel, Ethan, Hayden, and Brynn Gibney, sister, Shirley Homme, Sun City West, AZ, and sister-in-law, Gladys Symington, Neche, ND.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, great grandsons, Anthony and Zachary Karel, and brother, Garnet Symington.
Clergy: Pastor Judy Moos and Pastor Dann Pageler.
Casket Bearers: Ronnie Clark, Jon Gibney, Tom Karel, Brad Symington, William "Bud" Symington, and Leonard Urlaub.
Music: Kent and Lisa Dalzell, Vocalists and Sharon Carpenter, Organist.
