Minnie M. Dalzell, 92, of Walhalla, ND, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Walhalla, ND, surrounded by her daughters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Walhalla-Park Center Presbyterian Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla, ND.
Minnie Hooey was born March 29, 1917, the tenth of 12 children, near Dresden, ND to Ezekiel and Sarah (Biglow) Hooey. In 1919, her family moved to a farm south of Walhalla. She attended the Hogie Country School.
On August 26, 1936, she married Wallace Dalzell. The couple had an agricultural business in Walhalla. Throughout the years they enjoyed traveling and also spent two months each year for over 20 years in Alabama as an extension of their business.
Minnie was active in the Walhalla community and was an active member of the Presbyterian Church for over 70 years. She enjoyed homemaking, sewing, quilting, embroidery, gardening, yard care, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Idamae (Ronnie) Hendrickson, Mekinock, ND and Donna (Dean) Beattie, Bemidji, MN; grandchildren, Rick Hendrickson, Mekinock, Jana Hendrickson (Len) Becker, Grand Forks, ND, Mark (Kari) Hendrickson, Mekinock, Danae Beattie (Eric) Lund, Bemidji, MN, and Daniel Beattie, Washington, D.C; great grandchildren, Ashley , Brittany, Cody, and Emily Becker; Ethan , Anna and Britta Lund; step-great granddaughter, Breana Hurt; sister, Stella McNeil, Walhalla, ND; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Wallace in 1974, sisters, Alice Armstrong, Myrtle Dalzell, Florence Miller, Eva Baker, Ruby Hoff, and Dorothy Hoff; and brothers, Levi, Ray, Herman, and Howard Hooey.
