Milfred D. Hart age 85 of Pembina, ND., died on Sunday, March 13, 2005, at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home, Hallock, MN. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pembina Pioneer United Methodist Church, Pembina, ND. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Pembina Cemetery . Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Milfred Douglas Hart was born August 11, 1919, at Hallock, MN., to Arthur and Mary (Bernath) Hart. He grew up in the McArthur area and attended school at McArthur and Pembina, graduating from Pembina High School in 1937. Milfred was a telegrapher for Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1944, he moved home to farm until his retirement.
He was a member of the Joliette and Pembina United Methodist Churches, Pembina Masonic Lodge, and Fort Pembina Historical Society. Served as Pembina County Commissioner, Joliette Township Clerk, Pembina City Auditor, and vice president of Crop Improvement. Also served on the McArthur and Pembina School Boards, Pembina County School reorganization, and the Joliette Elevator Board.
On January 21, 1944, he married Myrtle Peabody at East Grand Fork, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, children, Russell (Dorene) Hart, Withholter, PA., Carol (DuWayne) Menke, Imperial Beach, CA., Charles (Patricia Cayley) Hart, Pembina, ND., Cathy (Arthur) Degelder, Joliette, ND., Betty Hart, Pembina, ND., eight grandsons, one granddaughter, six great granchildren, brother, Warren (Betty) Hart, Cavalier, ND.
Milfred was preceded in death by his parents.
