Mildred Heck, 90, of Langdon, ND passed away January 17, 2009 at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.
Mildred Inez Olson was born October 12, 1918 to Allet M. and Belle Gurina (Thompson) Olson in Harvey Township, Cavalier County. She lived in Harvey Township until 1924. She then moved to Vang until 1932 and in Osnabrock until 1936. Mildred was united in marriage to William Heck on September 8, 1936 at the Zion Evangelical Parsonage. They first made their home on the Pete Flink farm until 1941. They spent a year on the Edgar Douglas farm before moving to the Smith farm from 1942 to 1947. They moved to Langdon in 1947 and have lived there since.
Mildred was an active member of Emmanuel Evangelical Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and Cradle Roll leader for many years. She was active in the Mission Partners Works of the church. She supported missionaries and corresponded with them for 40 years. She loved to help in the quilting group. She enjoyed sending birthday cards, anniversary, get well, etcââ¬Â¦for many years. Mildred loved gardening and baking. Her passion was to help others! She loved reading her Bible.
Mildred is survived by her husband of 72 years, William of Langdon; her children: Allan G. Nemona (Penner) of Bartlesville, OK, Eugene W. Heck of Langdon, Elaine M. (Heck) Gary Huether of Fillmore, IN, Victor C. Heck of Langdon, Neil L. Heck of Langdon, Dale L. Lynn (Logan) Heck of Aurora, CO; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and her sister, Vivian Borgery Flockhart of Waukon, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Virgil Bernhard Olson.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon, ND.
