Mildred Becker, 102, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the Borg Memorial Home in Mountain, ND. Funeral services will be Friday, December 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Mildred was born November 10, 1917, in Antler, ND, to Edwin and Mathilda Johnson. She married Mervin Becker on May 10, 1936. They farmed primarily in Inkster and Hensel-Crystal and called both of those areas “home”. After Mervin’s death in 1979, Mildred moved to Cavalier and resided there until moving to the Borg Nursing Home in 2012.
She was a member of the Cavalier Presbyterian Church. She found much joy in sewing, crocheting, playing the piano, cooking and gardening. She took great pride in her flowers, rock beds, and trees. Mildred may not have owned a cell phone, but she always gave her best smiles when asked to take a “selfie” with her great-grandchildren. She learned to play the piano by ear and entertained her family often with the “Beer Barrel Polka” even while living at the Borg Home. Her homemade lefse, doughnuts, bread and dumplings were always a treat for her family. Mildred lived a long full life and was cherished by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Shirley Amundson ,Larimore, ND, Clark (Melva) Becker ,Inkster, ND, Myrna Becker, Phoenix, AZ, Gary (Patty) Becker, Crystal, ND. Her grandchildren: Bradley (Denise) Becker, Susan (Jeff) Trosen, Pamela (Gary) Lorenz, Denise (Peter) Sobolik, Corey (Rochelle) Becker, Tracy (April) Amundson, Jay Amundson, Lee Amundson, Maree (Shawn) Burke, Tony Flowers, Lance Raedel, Jeff (Shelly) Erlendson, Jennifer Erlendson. Many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. One sister, Pearl Lehman ,Little Fork, MN; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Johnson, Devils Lake, ND and Doris Johnson, Cando, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Delbert Johnson and Vernon Johnson; husband, Mervin; son, Glenn Becker; son-in-law George Amundson; brother-in-law, Ernie Lehman; and a great grandson.
