Michael E. Thompson

Michael Elmer “Hozer” Thompson, 40, of West Fargo, ND passed away on September 6, 2024, in his home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Evangelical Free Church in Cavalier. 

Hozer was born to Michael J. & Cynthia (Woinarowicz) Thompson on December 17, 1983, in Cavalier, ND. He was raised in the country in Hallson, ND, and attended Cavalier High School. At the age of 18, Hozer was working at Grain System Repairs until he moved to South Carolina for a short time before returning to North Dakota to work construction. Throughout his life, he worked in construction, diesel & auto mechanics, and trucking. After 11 years at Close Construction in Milton, ND, Hozer pursued a career as a diesel mechanic in West Fargo, ND. In 2008, Hozer took on his most important role - a father to Shawn Eric Thompson.

Hozer had many hobbies and talents including fishing, working on cars, building computers &stereo systems, and making people laugh. He was known for his sense of humor, storytelling abilities, and generous & caring nature.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Thompson of Grafton, ND, his father Michael J. Thompson of Cavalier, ND, his mother, Cynthia (Woinarowicz) Thompson of Cavalier, ND, his 5 siblings, Adam Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD, Eric Thompson of Cavalier, ND, Holly (Joseph) Young of Neche, ND, Selena (Jason) Tesmer of Neche, ND, and Crystal Symington of Cavalier, ND, his nieces and nephews, Kane Moon, Sierra Johnson, and Mason Symington, and his great-niece Luna Moon. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer & Ardyce Woinarowicz and Harvey & Margaret Thompson.
