Michael ââ¬ÅJackââ¬Å¥ Schell, 81, of Jamestown, ND and formerly of Langdon, ND, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
Jack was born December 24, 1933 in Devils Lake, ND to Frank and Eva (Schafer) Schell. He went to school in Devils Lake, ND and the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He entered the US Army and was stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1957 and came back to North Dakota. On December 23, 1960, Jack and Audrey Janzen were united in marriage. Jack worked for the Cavalier County Republican with the printing presses and then as a firefighter at the Cavalier Air Force Station for 25 years. After retiring, he continued to live in Langdon until moving to Jamestown in 2007.
Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. He loved to play cards, shake dice, and to socialize with his friends and family. He was a fan of Western movies and was a practical joker when the opportunity came up. Jack was a member of the Langdon Eagles Aerie #3454, American Legion Post #98, Knight of Columbus, and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church while he lived in Langdon.
Jack is survived by his wife, Audrey, of Jamestown; children: Sandy Biffert (Jarvis Schmidt) of Hazen, ND, Terry Schell of Grandin, ND, Michael Schell (Sherry Skoglund) of Roseau, MN, and Sheri Beedy (Dave Bischoff) of Jamestown, ND; grandchildren: Kayla (Josh) Smith, Lisa (Jamie) Hams, Racheal Biffert, Lexie Biffert, Austin Schell, Abby Schell, Kendra Beedy, Kelton Beedy, Dalton Skoglund, and Selina Skoglund; great-grandchildren: Macee, Izabel, Gunner, Jadin, Kenadee, Sage, and Emma; brothers: Don (Leona) Schell of Penn, ND, Gerald (Darlene) Schell of Eustis, FL, and Harlan (Kaye) Schell of Savannah, GA; sisters: Rosie Streifel of Largo, FL, and Diane Schell of Wahpeton, ND; brothers-in-law: Dale Janzen and Allen (Mary) Janzen; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents, an infant daughter, mother and father-in-law Peter & Gertrude Janzen, brothers-in-law Darryl Janzen and Fritz Streifel, and niece Vickie.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 prayer service at Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday.
