Merton R. Dalzell age 85 of Walhalla, ND and formerly of Cavalier died on Sunday, July 2, 2006, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 6, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla, ND.
Merton R. Dalzell was born February 27, 1921, in the Park Center area to William and Florence (Whidden) Dalzell. He grew up in the Park Center area where he attended grade school, and graduated from Walhalla High School. Merton then served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. After his discharge he returned to Walhalla.
On April 12, 1974, he married Irene M. Sepke Thompson. He worked at the PAR Site and later for Motor Coach Industries in Pembina. Irene passed away on December 5, 1994.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Merton was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Earl, Wallace, Harvey, and Lloyd Dalzell, and sister, Elva Berg.
