Merlin J. LaPorte

Merlin LaPorte, 83, of Langdon, ND, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier, ND.

Merlin Joseph LaPorte was born February 26, 1935, in Cavalier County to George and Mary (Schwartz) LaPorte. He attended county schools around the area. Merlin worked for many area farmers in Cavalier County. He worked for Matt Bisenius for 17 years and for Roy Implement in Walhalla for 29 ½ years. Merlin enjoyed working on tractors and lawn mowers, gardening, painting, taking pictures, and watching game shows. Merlin loved his land and his farmstead.

Merlin is survived by his siblings: Darryl (Alverna) LaPorte of Walhalla, Marge Beauchamp of Osnabrock, Karen LaPorte of Langdon, Judy LaPorte of Langdon, Marlene LaPorte of Langdon and three sisters-in-law: Deb LaPorte, Pat LaPorte, and Arlene LaPorte along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ron, Ken, Laverne, Les, Larry & Gary; sisters: Shirley Bataum and Joyce Kirby; brothers-in-law Harvey Beauchamp & Russell Kirby; nephew Darryn LaPorte; niece Barb Kirby; and great-nieces Phoenix & Madison Laporte.

A service for Merlin will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel in Langdon, ND. Visitation will start one hour before the time of service.
