Melissa Chadwick

Melissa Leigh Chadwick, 34, of Hensel, ND passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at her home, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cavalier School Gymnasium, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, May 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier. Burial will be held in the St. Brigid's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society and Pembina County Relay for Life.

Melissa Leigh Scheer was born August 25, 1979, at Bismarck, ND to Loren and Gwen (Stadick) Scheer. She grew up in Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1998. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, she taught school in Strasburg, ND, Froid, MT, and Cavalier.

She cherished family time and took great joy spending time with her children at the lake, at home in the summertime, and attending events they were active in. Melissa's students were also very important to her. As a pastime she enjoyed reading.

On June 22, 2002, she married Erik Chadwick at Fargo, ND. He survives as do her children: Kaden, Lauryn, and Ava; parents, Loren and Gwen Scheer, Box Elder, SD; sister, Tara (Scott) Hartje, Cavalier; mother and father-in-law, Sandi and Leo Thomas, Velva, ND; sisters-in-law: Tarri (Cliff) Wenstad, Mohall, ND, Crystal (Scott) Shorb, Minot, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Robert Pecotte; Music: Ann Kraft, Cantor and Beth Kennedy, Pianist; Casket Bearers: Bryan Krumwiede, Layne Krumwiede, Brock Scheer, Cavan Scheer, Dustin Scheer, Mitchell Scheer, Lance Stadick.
