May Gunderson, 90, Mountain, ND and formerly of Bathgate and Cavalier, ND passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Bathgate, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, September 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
May was born November 17, 1925, on the family farm near Neche, ND to Clarence R. and Charlotte Pearl (Dyer) Morrison. She grew up in the Bathgate area and attended Crosby country school, graduating from Bathgate High School in 1943. After graduating from Deaconess School of Nursing in Grand Forks in 1946, she worked as the Pembina County Health Nurse.
On February 14, 1948, she married Glen W. Gunderson at Bathgate, ND. After their marriage they farmed in the Bathgate area and May also worked as an RN at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier. In 1979, they moved into Cavalier. For the past six years she had resided at the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home in Mountain.
She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. May was a member of the Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Pioneer Daughters, NE ND Heritage Association, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her children: Ruth Gunderson Campbell, Salem, OR, Scott (Ann) Gunderson, Bathgate, ND, Becky (Don) Kemp, Hamilton, ND, Bill (Cinder) Gunderson, Bathgate, ND; grandchildren: Colin and Ben Campbell; Jenni (Perry) Hillman, Paul (Sarah) Gunderson, Beth Gunderson; Rob (Emily) Kemp, Evan (Kayla) Kemp, Kyle (Liz) Kemp, Raechel (Torey) VandeWalle; Stacey (Spencer) Reynolds, Joe (Denise) Gunderson, Daniel (Mandy) Gunderson; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Sadie, Paige, and Jack; Edith, Gunder, Shirley, Fletcher, and Hazel; Blake, Noah, and Jack; in-laws: Marvin (Grace) Gunderson, Adeline Morrison, Geri Morrison, Meryl Gunderson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Glen on January 12, 2013; brothers: Russell, Alwin, Duane, Donald in infancy, Dale, and Robert Morrison.
