Mary E. Mattila, 49, beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many, of Walhalla, ND, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at her home in Walhalla. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held for one hour before the time of the service at the church.

Mary was born to Gary and Patricia (Lorenzen) Dearinger of Walhalla, ND on January 5, 1976. She attended high school at North Border Walhalla where she then graduated and went on to college. She always had a love for taking care of people and it led to her studying at Northland Community and Technical College where she pursued a degree in nursing to become a CNA. She later worked at the Pembilier Nursing Center and the Walhalla Co-Op for many years being a jack of all trades. Mary was a master of many things.

In her free time, Mary loved to do diamond paintings, see her grandchildren, and knit various pictures. She also enjoyed admiring lighthouses every chance she got. Mary lived a life full of love and care from everyone she knew.

Mary is survived by her 4 children: Micah, Jacob, Faith and Garin Mattila; parents, Gary and Patricia (Lorenzen) Dearinger; brother, Curtis Dearinger; all her beautiful grandchildren: Kayden, Kylah, Winston, Oliver, Spencer, Audrey, and Addilyn; aunts, Dorothy (Dearinger) Denault, Margie (Dearinger) LeTexier, Eileen (Dearinger) Ducioame, Leona (Dearinger) Fuller and Carol Lorenzen; and uncle, Tom Lorenzen. She is also survived by her lifetime best friends, Ian Harder, Todd Hardy, Carla Hiller and Kelly Thompson. Also included are her soul daughters, Alexis Tatum, Samantha McKay and KayCee Underhill and every one of her children's friends that called her mom.

She is preceded in death by her brother Paul Dearinger, sister-in-law Karen Dearinger, her maternal and paternal grandparents, her uncles Elmer, Robert, Alvin, and Richard and her aunts Cathy, Ida, and Ruby.
