Mary Louise Duncan, formerly of Neche, ND passed away February 5, 2011, at a hospital near her sister, Sandra Duncan McNutt in Chatsworth, CA. Mary Lou resided with Sandra until she moved to a rehabilitation facility because of poor health.
Born November 15, 1945 to Leslie and Marjorie Cameron Duncan of rural Neche, she was named after both of her grandmothers. The family moved to Chatsworth in 1957. Mary Lou was happy to move to California to meet her hero, Roy Rodgers. To her parents' surprise, Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans attended the same Methodist Church the Duncan family joined. The children of Roy and Dale were in the Duncan girls' classes at school. Mary Lou graduated from Chatsworth High School in 1965.
Mary returned to Neche when her parents retired in 1974. Mary was employed at the Pioneer Rest Home in Bathgate. She moved to Salt Lake City and lived with John and Margot Duncan.
She then relocated to Grand Forks, where she worked for the UND food service. In 1997, she moved to Chatsworth. She was a member of Calvary Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Surviving Mary, is her brother, John (Margot) Duncan, Salt Lake City, UT; sisters: Margaret (Dick) Hill, Southbury, CT; Jean Mountain, Cavalier, ND; Sandra Duncan McNutt, Chatsworth, CA. Also surviving Mary are eight nieces and nephews as well as seven great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her brother-in-laws: Earl Mountain and Larry McNutt
Graveside Service at Bruce Cemetery Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
Following the committal service everyone is invited to join the family for a time of fellowship and lunch at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church.
