Marvin ââ¬ÅOttoââ¬Å¥ Hoel, 90, of Langdon, ND, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Sanford Hospital in Mayville, ND.
Marvin Otto Hoel was born November 14, 1927, at Lunds Valley, ND, to Ole and Mabel (Holte) Hoel. He grew up in the Lunds Valley area before entering the US Army. Otto and Beatrice Westom were married October 21, 1945 in Stanley, ND. Ottoââ¬â¢s job as a butcher caused the family to move to various places throughout North Dakota. He and Beatrice raised their family of seven children in Stanley, Rugby, Minot, Fargo, Dilworth, MN, and then Langdon, ND, in 1968. In July of 1971, Beatrice passed away. Otto remained in Langdon and married Vivian ââ¬ÅPollyââ¬Å¥ Evans on January 8, 1974. They continued to live in Langdon where Otto became the first Cavalier County Tax Equalization Director until his retirement.
Otto was very involved in the community and volunteered his time on many projects. He loved to dance, hunt, and travel. He was a member of the Langdon American Legion Post 98, Masons and Shriners, and the Presbyterian Church in Langdon, where he held various offices throughout the years.
Otto is survived by his children: Marty (Dorothy) Hoel of Mayville, ND, Cindy Fehr of Winnipeg, MB, Cheryl Hoel of Langdon, ND, Stephanie (Steve) Dworshak of Bismarck, ND, Christine Moore of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Shannon, LeeAnn, Teresa, Tracy, Marvin, Charlotte, Travis, Derek, James, Jeff, Kristopher, Tony, Angela, Jason, Jennifer; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; daughter-in-law Sandra Hoel; step-children: Rick (Kathy) Evans, Craig (Sharon) Evans, Pam Evans; and step-daughter-in-law Olivia Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Beatrice & Polly; sons Robert & Keith; step-son Randy Evans; and siblings: Myrtle, Jeanette, Edwin, Clair, &Darlene.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Presbyterian Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place one hour before the time of service.
