Marvin L. Grumbo, 78, of Walhalla, ND passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, at his home. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 14, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 13th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Marvin was born October 14, 1935, at St. Vincent, MN to Joseph and Marie (Stranger) Grumbo. He grew up in the St. Vincent and Pembina area, while he was in early elementary school his family moved to Cavalier. Marvin worked for Page Farms before moving to the state of Washington where he worked construction. From 1954 to 1957, he served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the service he returned to Cavalier and worked for Mayo Construction until his retirement in 1996. In August of 1961, he married Roberta Berens in Cavalier.
Things he enjoyed were fishing and hunting with his kids and grandkids and watching television.
Survivors include his children: Terry (Jill) Grumbo, Washburn, ND and Tina Grumbo (Tyler Peterson), Cavalier, ND; grandchildren: T.J. and Turner Grumbo; Lila and Eliot Grumbo; siblings: Delores Johnson, St. Cloud, MN, Howard (Joyce) Grumbo, Lidgerwood, ND, Eldon (Marcia) Grumbo, Malibu, CA, Carol Mondor and Patty Snell, both of Mankato, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Roberta; sister, Edith Letexier.
Clergy, Pastor Sandy Marquardt; Honorary Pallbearers: All of Marvin's Family and Friends; Music, Bettie Lou Stegman, Accompanist; Military Rites by Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion and the North Dakota Funeral Honor Guard.
