Marvin P. Briese age 89 of Glasston, ND., died on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 28, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of service. Burial in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Marvin Paul Briese was born October 2, 1915 at St. Thomas, ND., the son of Charles and Anna (Lawonn) Briese. He grew up and attended school in the St. Thomas area and graduated from St. Thomas High School. Marvin then served in the U.S. Army.
On December 11, 1946, he married Wilhelmina �Minnie' Stark at the Bathgate Lutheran Church, Bathgate, ND. After their marriage they farmed in the St. Thomas area and later managed the German Café in Hamilton and was a flax distributor. He especially enjoyed fishing with his family.
He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher. Marvin was also a member of the Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion and the Blue Ribbon Homemakers.
He is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina �Minnie', sons, Dwayne John Briese, Duluth, MN. and Ken (Val) Briese, Cavalier, ND., grandchildren, Steven (Tracy) Briese and Patrick Briese, and one sister, Clara (Walt) Probst, Wenatchee, WA.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Jennifer Briese, sister, Lila Martin, and brothers, Harvey, Walter, and Stanley Briese.
