Marjorie Olson, 82, of Langdon, ND, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012, at her home in Langdon.

Marjorie Louise Welsh was born January 1, 1930, to Ralph and Ruby (Rinehart) Welsh at their home in Harvey Township, Cavalier County, ND. She graduated from Langdon High School in the class of 1948 and went on to Valley City State University. Marjorie taught in Clyde and rural Langdon for five years. She was united in marriage to Ole L.E. Olson on December 28, 1952 at Langdon, ND and they became the loving parents of five children. She worked at Maple Manor in the early 1980’s. Marjorie became a rural mail carrier in 1982, which she continued, later along with Ole, until 2006. Marjorie was a dedicated wife of 59 years and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a 50 year member of the Stilwell Homemaker’s Club and was a member of the United Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA. Over the years, Marjorie was active in 4-H and was able to travel to Washington, D.C. Marjorie loved animals and enjoyed riding horses. She was a tomboy and loved to work on the machinery and in the fields with her father. She planted many flowers in her years. Marjorie wasn’t born a Norwegian, but she became one, a very good one, through osmosis. She was an excellent cook and baker, winning many awards and ribbons over the years. She loved to mow the grass with her John Deere Tractor. She liked knitting and was a talented seamstress.

Marjorie is survived by her husband: Ole of Langdon; children: Mary (Daniel) Lobato of Windsor, CO, Nancy (Wayne) Coyle of Langdon, ND, Linda (Donald) Heyd of LaMoure, ND, Laura (Michael) Bisenius of Grand Forks, ND, Curtis Olson of Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Carrie (Jeremiah) Miller, Chad (Kristina) Coyle, Lisa Lobato, Sara (Chris) Duplex, Daniel J. (Victoria) Lobato, Jamie Coyle, Matthew Bisenius, Becky Heyd, David Bisenius, Michelle Bisenius, Andrea Bisenius; seven great-grandchildren; brother: James R. (Addie) Welsh of Las Vegas, NV; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with a very special pet, Miss Kitty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ruby Welsh.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be directed to Cavalier County Memorial Hospital or United Lutheran Church.

VISITATION and PRAYER SERVICE: Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND on Thursday, January 26, 2012. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

SERVICES will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon with the Reverend Bob Bekkerus officiating.

INTERMENT: Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
