Marie Valentine

Marie Valentine, 70, of Langdon, ND died peacefully on August 4, 2016 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon.

Marie Elaine DuBord was born November 18, 1945 in Fargo to Ernest and Dorothy (Duval) DuBord. She was raised on the family farm near Horace, ND. Marie attended school at St. Joseph’s Academy at St. Benedict’s Church in Wild Rice and also at Kindred High School. After graduation, she was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo.

Marie and Thomas Valentine were married on July 18, 1970 at St. Benedict’s Church in Wild Rice, ND. After their wedding, they moved to Mason City, IA and later Forest City, IA. In 1979, they returned to North Dakota with their family and moved to the family farm near Wales where they raised their seven children. Marie returned to work as a nurse’s aide at Maple Manor Care Center and then moved to Fargo, working at Merit Care and Innovis hospitals. Marie was a homemaker, crafter, and quilter. When Marie retired, she returned to the Wales area and continued to occupy her time by making quilts with many being donated or given as gifts to friends and family. Marie became a resident of Maple Manor in December of 2014 where she enjoyed painting, crafts, and playing bingo.

Marie is survived by her husband, Tom, of Wales; children: Anita (Kevin) Beauchamp of Olga, ND, Ernie (Laurel) of David City, NE, Joleen (Kory) Loewen of Bismarck, Judd (Kyoko) of Chula Vista, CA, Daniel (Heather) of Savannah, GA, Donald of Wales, and Theresa (Ian) Stewart of Langdon; grandchildren: Darwin, Courtney, & Allyssa Schwartz, Morgen, Jacson, Keetyn, Brittin, & Hayden Valentine, Kraig, Krystal Jo(Nathan), & Kordell Loewen, Samantha & Grant Valentine and Baby Stewart; mother Dorothy DuBord of Riverview in Fargo; siblings: Sharon (Curt) Haakenson, Kathleen (Paul) Willison, Leo DuBord, Joanne (Michael) Lenertz, Michael (Kathy) DuBord, Curt (Kari) DuBord; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by father Ernest DuBord, in-laws William and Fannie Valentine, sister-in-law Barb DuBord, and nephew Eric DuBord.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND.
Visitation will take place from 3-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016 with a 4:40 p.m. Rosary and 5:00 prayer service at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time at the church on Monday.
