Marie Robertson

Marie Robertson, 99, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center of Osnabrock, ND.

Marie Dorothy Tollefson was born August 11, 1911 on the family farm in Hay Township, Cavalier County to Halvor and Gurina Tollefson. She grew up in Hay Township and graduated from grade eight. She worked at home for a few years and then went on to attend high school at Hoople, ND. She graduated as Valedictorian in the class of 1932. She moved to Owatonna, MN where she worked as a girl’s matron at the Owatonna State School. Marie was united in marriage to Alden Robertson in 1940 at the Golberg Lutheran Church of rural Osnabrock, ND. They made their home in Owatonna and in 1943 were blessed with a son, James Alden. Alden worked with the State School as an Engineer. Marie was able to be home to take care of her family. Many of Marie’s family lived in the Owatonna area, and she enjoyed being able to see them often as well.

In 1958 the family moved to the Coon Rapids/Fridley area. Alden worked at the VA Hospital at Fort Snelling. Marie worked at Dayton’s and at the US Post Office until they both retired in 1972. After retirement they enjoyed their home in Fridley and spending time with friends and family. Alden passed away in 1978. They were always active in church. In Owatonna they were members of Trinity Lutheran Church, they were members of Peace Lutheran in Blaine, MN, and Redeemer Lutheran during their time in Fridley. Marie spent a few years living at Valley Square in Grand Forks where she was a member of Calvary Lutheran and most recently had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center and a member of Dovre Lutheran in Osnabrock, ND.

Marie is survived by her son James (Carol) Robertson, granddaughter Solvei (Herb) Schatteles and their children Alden Mario and Amelia Carolann, grandson John Robertson of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Carl, Hilda(Bretheim), Clara, Herman, Lydia and Edna.
