Marie Krom, 91, of Devils Lake, ND passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society in Devils Lake.
Marie (Dietz) Krom, daughter of Adolph & Nellie (Lorenz) Dietz, was born June 7, 1925 in Cavalier County. Marie lived and attended school in Langdon. She traveled to Chicago, IL where she worked as a seamstress at a large factory. Marie moved back home to work on the family farm. Marie married Louis John Krom Jr. on November 19, 1948 in Nekoma, ND. She had four wonderful children that she loved so dearly: son Gerald ââ¬ÅJerryââ¬Å¥ (Eileen) Krom of Gettysburg, SD and three daughters: Jean Smith of Libby, MT, Shirley (Leon) Martinson of Devils Lake, ND and Kathy Fischer of Harvey, ND.
Marie was a hardworking, religious and very caring and loving lady. She loved spending time with her family and grandkids. Marie loved playing cards and taught them well. She also enjoyed the casino, playing bingo, and shopping. She was famous for her homemade doughnuts and buns. Marie left an impact on many people. She enjoyed the staff at the Good Samaritan Center where they treated her like their own mother. Marie was so fun to be around, always smiling. We learned so much from her, and she will be deeply missed. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.
Marie is survived by four children; nine grandchildren: Dean (Erin) Krom of Venice, FL, Sandy (Jimmy) Bauer of Dell Rapids, SD, Jody (Jon) Sanderson of Forest Lake, MN, Shawn (Cheri) Martinson of Devils Lake, ND, Michael (Amanda) Martinson of Minot, ND, Brad (Lorene) Smith of Hermiston, OR, Dean Smith of Boise, ID, Glen (Laurie) Smith of Kalispell, MT, and Brenda Smith of Boise, ID; sister Helen Erickson of Alliance, NE; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis, sisters Elsie Heck and Florence Schmidt, brother Robert Dietz, son-in-law Don Smith, and two grandsons, Kyle Wenzel and TJ Fischer.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 with a 1:00 Rosary at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place from 3-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Monday. Interment ââ¬â St. Edwardââ¬â¢s Catholic Cemetery, Nekoma, ND.
