Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has request memorials be sent to the Pembina County Historical Society Library/Jail in care of Jean Wimpfheimer, 212 E. 3rd Ave. S., Cavalier, ND.
Margaret was born July 29, 1913, to Frank and Isabella (Brown) Fiedler at Bathgate, ND. She attended school in Bathgate and received her Teaching Certificate from Valley City State Teachers College. She taught all grades in the rural Tyner School and first grade in the Cavalier Public School for many years until her retirement.
On September 19, 1941, she married Clayton Schluchter and they made their home on the farm and then in Cavalier, where they raised their daughter, Janie.
She was a member of the Cavalier Presbyterian Church and was active in the Ladies Aid. Also was a member of the Cavalier Civitas Club, Homemakers Club, and the Cavalier Order of the Eastern Star. Margaret was a charter member of the Pembina County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, serving as their first secretary. As an interim librarian she fondly remembered planting flowers in the window boxes at the library with her sister-in-law, Vivian Fiedler. She had a green thumb with her prized flowers, especially her begonias. Margaret loved to cook and bake, spoiling her family with carmel rolls and long bread.
