Margaret Heck, 90, of Langdon, ND passed away on April 17, 2016 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.
Margaret Vivian was born February 16, 1926 near Nekoma, ND to Jacob and Agnes (Novacek) Erickson. She attended grade school in the Nekoma area and graduated from Nekoma High School. She continued her schooling at Minot Teacherââ¬â¢s College and, upon returning to the area, taught at various country schools near Nekoma. On October 5, 1949, Margaret married Raymond Heck. They farmed the Heck homestead in Perry Twp. until retiring in 1988. They then moved into Nekoma and ran the Nekoma CafÄ© for a short time. Margaret had various jobs including working the cook cars during harvest, being a teacherââ¬â¢s aide at Nekoma during the missiles, cooking at the bowling alley and courthouse in Langdon, and driving school bus. She moved to Langdon in 1999 and became a resident of Maple Manor Care Center in 2006.
Margaret was famous for her doughnuts and crocheting and gave away many of her creations. Her meatballs & gravy and lefse were also favorites. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. Margaret was a member of St. Edwardââ¬â¢s Church in Nekoma and then became a member of St. Alphonsus Church when she moved to Langdon.
Surviving Margaret are her children: Curtis of Langdon, Wayne (Roxane) of West St. Paul, MN and Diane (Bob) Simmons of Langdon; grandchildren: Benjiman (Laura) Snyder, Erin (Josh) Alm, Andrea (Ryan) Johnston, Courtney (Brandon) Krom, and Drew (Ariel) Simmons; great-grandchildren: Remmi, Prestyn, Jackson, Samantha, Alexis, and Violette; and siblings: Edgar (Helen) Erickson, Olaf (Verna) Erickson, and Frances Kartes. She was preceded in death by husband Raymond, daughter Sharon, brother Jacob, sister-in-law Marie, and brother-in-law Dick Kartes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 prayer service on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Thursday.
