Margaret Mary "Mugs" Lynch Douville, 79, died at her home peacefully among a tidal wave of prayer, Friday, July 31, 2009. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Nereus and Achilleus Catholic Church, Neche, ND. Visitation Monday, August 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in Neche Catholic Cemetery.
She was born to Michael L. Lynch and Catherine (Brennan) Lynch in Fargo, ND, April 25, 1930, she grew up in Grand Forks, ND, graduating from St. James Academy.
On September 25, 1950, she married William "Bill" A. Douville. They made their home in Neche following Bill's discharge from the U.S. Army in October, 1951. Together they operated Douville's Grocery Store and raised their nine children. She worked alongside Bill in their grocery store, and became sole proprietor following his death on January 25, 1982, later selling the business. She later retired from H.A. and J.L. Woods Brokerage, Pembina, ND in 2000.
Mugs enjoyed a very active faith filled life, including being an active parishioner, member of Sts. Nereus and Achilleus Catholic Church and Altar Society, Charter member of Neche Quick Response for 20 years, member and former president of Neche Legion Auxiliary, Neche Economic Development, Red Hatters, and Birthday Club.
Mugs enjoyed golfing, curling, reading, travel, gardening, scrapbooking, card making, spending time with her friends, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Mary (David) Nigg, Browns Valley, MN; Anne Douville, New Hope, MN; Patty (Max) Paustian, Farmington, NM; Joan Douville, Fargo, ND; Mike Douville, Avon, IN; John Douville, Waconia, MN; Kathy (Wayne) Berdal, Petersburg, ND; Beth (Tom) Budziszewski, Strandquist, MN; Theresa (Brad) Symington, Neche, ND; Daughters-in-law, Lorna Douville, Danville, IN and Janice Douville, Grand Forks, ND: eighteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, Ellen Handlon, Mary Therkelsen, Bernice "Babe", Michael "Mickey", James "Jim", and Patrick "Paddy" Lynch, and Kathleen "Bookie" (George) Geatz.
Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Vincent Fitzpatrick.
