Marcia Kay Enerson was born May 15, 1950, in Grafton, ND to Clarence "Bud" and Marion Enerson. She spent the first eight years of her life in Hamilton, then moved to the Grafton State School during the school terms for the next several years, returning home for summer vacations. At age 18, she was crowned the first Queen of the Grafton State School and in 1972 became a member of the first graduating class of the Grafton State School.
In 1974, Marcia moved to Fraser Hall in Fargo. Here she received training that allowed her to gain employment throughout the city in facilities such as Queen of Peace and a local McDonalds. She was subsequently able to move to her own apartment in downtown Fargo, a source of great pride and delight for her.
She enjoyed many activities including music, embroidery, latch hook, coloring, watching soap operas, the news, reading, writing, and clipping coupons. Marcia took part in the Special Olympics and was proud of the medals she earned. She had a great love for cats and her dog Smoky. She also had a great affinity for Coke, as her family and more recently her Hallock caregiver family would attest to!
As her health declined, she returned to Hamilton to her parents' home for several years. In August of 2007, she became a resident of the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home.
Marcia leaves a legacy of a life well-lived. She was fearless, resilient, affectionate, and loving. She lived life to the fullest, said what she thought, with kindness, and exhibited unparalleled self-determination. She will be sorely missed.
