Marcel J. Bailly age 89 of Cavalier, ND died on Saturday, December 3, 2005, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 9, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a prayer service to follow at the church. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the St. Brigid of Ireland Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Marcel Joseph Bailly was born February 15, 1916, at Felton, MN to Louis A. and Olive I. (Provost) Bailly. He grew up and attended school in the Cavalier area. Marcel served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On December 5, 1939, he married Anna B. Harildstad at Leroy, ND. She passed away on March 12, 1983.
He worked at Olson Motors in Cavalier as a mechanic for 36 years and then for Bert Olson Custom Harvesting until his retirement. Marcel was a member of the Lavern J. Thompson Post #11 for 60 years, and also was a past commander. His love in life was his family, playing the fiddle, and gardening.
He is survived by his children, Dawn Gordon (Pat) Bailly, Grafton, ND, Richard Marcel (Sharon) Bailly, Champlin, MN, Clifford Andre (Mary) Bailly and Raymond Joseph Bailly, all of Grafton, ND, Leland Maynard Bailly, Cavalier, ND, Verlyn Louis (Diane) Bailly, Evansville, WI, and Ernest Michael (Kathy) Bailly, Cavalier, ND, 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, brothers, Everett (Lea) Bailly, Walhalla, ND, Gordon "Hap" Bailly, Mission Hills, CA, sisters, Lucille (Jim) Cranston, Mountain, ND, Marie (Vernon) Dalzell, Walhalla, ND, Frances Thompson, Coleville, CA, and Isabel (Wes) Wankel, Fort Meyers, FL.
Marcel was also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Toliver, and brother, Edmund Bailly.
