Magdalena "Maggie" Hilzendeger was born July 24, 1936, at Napoleon, ND to Wendelin and Agatha (Feist) Hilzendeger. In Maggie's early years after losing her mom and twin sister shortly after birth she and her three young siblings were raised by her aunt. As she started grade school, she was back home with all her siblings and went to a country school thru the seventh grade. At the tender age of 12, her father passed away and she lived with her older siblings until the age of 18.
On December 9, 1955, she married Donald Erickson at Dagmar, MT. She was a loving mother and took pride in raising her five children and being a stay-at-home-mom. Maggie loved to bake, cook, clean house, and always had the coffee pot on for company. While the children were young, she took part in bicycling on a two-seater with her daughter and playing kickball and softball with her children and the neighborhood kids. Maggie also enjoyed playing cards, her favorite game being war/challenge, while eating sunflower seeds.
She loved seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always wanting to carry or hold them, which shown her love for them. She got great joy just from watching them play, she so loved watching her grown children, grand and great-grandchildren interact.
While a resident of the Pembilier Nursing Center, she enjoyed all the activities put on by the activities department and was only absent from them when not feeling well. She was given so many stuffed animals from the staff for gifts and never tired of admiring them, she'd say "but they are all so cute!'
Survivors include her children: Donald Erickson, Roseau, MN, Debra Letkeman, Walhalla, ND; Mickey (Peggy) Erickson, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Kristie, Korey, Kyle, Jessica; great-grandchildren: Trever, Zayden, Evelyn, Amelia, and Elijah.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Mark and a son in infancy; brothers: Mike, Ben, Joe, Alex, Matt, Valentine, and Kap; sisters: Helen, Ann, Theresa, infant sisters, Ann, Christine, Katie, and twin sister, Agatha.
