Mae D. Lawonn, 85, of Cavalier, ND, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Cavalier. Visitation will be held Friday, December 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Mae was born April 3, 1928, near Leroy, ND to William and Alma (Martineau) Gibson. Her family moved from Walhalla to Cavalier and she graduated from Cavalier High School. She then worked at the Pembina County Courthouse.
On December 3, 1947, she married Herbert G. "Bunch" Lawonn at Crystal, ND. After their marriage they farmed in the Hensel area, and she sold Avon from 1950 to 2010. Bunch passed away on November 30, 1999. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bowling, bingo, crocheting, and playing cards.
She is survived by her children: Valorie Brown and Gwen (Ron) Werner, all of Cavalier; Herbert Lawonn, Arvilla, ND; grandchildren: Nicole Lischefske, Tiffani (James) Albrecht, Jaime (Scott) Hanson, Karissa (Chris) Brusseau; Shari (Wayne) Johnson, Shane (Katie) Werner; Cassie Lawonn (Casey Hobus), Chris Lawonn, Nick Lawonn; great-grandchildren: Savannah, Dori, and Lauren Lischefske, Sadie, Teagan, Faera, and James Albrecht, Jaelyn, Brynn, and Trevyn Hanson, Kaden and Colten Brusseau; Tanner, Brayden, and Jasmyn Johnson, Sidney, Logan, and Aiden Werner; Masen and Rylee Lawonn; siblings: Dolores Indridson, Cavalier, Bill (Mickey) Gibson, Bottineau, ND, Mary (Lyle) Ault, Cavalier, Pete Gibson, Cottonwood, AZ.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; son-in-law, Dave Brown; and nine infant siblings.
