Lynda P. Spanier-Fry, 52, of Portland, OR and formerly of Langdon, ND passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lynda P. Spanier was born April 11, 1956 to Art and Fern (Agar) Spanier at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND. She grew up and attended St. Alphonsus up until eighth grade and went on to graduate from Langdon High School in the class of 1974. She attended NDSU and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Development. She moved to Vancouver, WA in 1979 where she was married to Jeff Elvrum in 1983. She later moved to Portland, OR where she was united in marriage to David Fry in 1988 and became a mother to four young children. She loved animals, the outdoors, the ocean, and snow. Her gentle soul and generous heart was outstretched to those around her. Her love of life infected those around her. She made everybody smile. Her positive attitude was inspiring as she continually found the silver lining during her battle with cancer.
She is survived by her mother Fern, sisters and brothers: Judy Hamann of Juneau, AK; Jim Spanier of Langdon, ND; Roger Spanier of Groton, SD; nieces and nephews: Trisha Hamann of Portland, OR; Michael (Laura) Hamann of Beaverton, OR; Jericka (Ryan) Congdon of Vancouver, WA; Jared Spanier of Grand Forks; Jason (Kassie) Spanier of Langdon, ND; Jalissa Spanier of Grand Forks, ND; Raelyn Spanier of Fargo, ND; Brandon Spanier of Aberdeen, SD, great-nephews: Benjamin Hamann and Isaac Hamann of Portland, OR, step-children: David Jr., (Sarah) Fry ; Heidi Fry; Michael Fry and Stephen Fry all of Oregon, step-grandsons: Marshall Fry, Kyal Hartley, William Fry all of Oregon and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
