Lyle M. Fedje, 85, of Hoople, ND passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Hoople. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial will be held in the Hoople Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Hoople Cemetery, Borg Home of Mountain, ND, or charity of choice.
Lyle was born on July 14, 1928, at Grafton, ND to Edwin and Lily Mae (Travers) Fedje. He grew up in the Hoople area where he attended school. Lyle farmed in the Hoople area and later worked for the North Dakota State Seed Department for 27 years as a potato inspector.
On October 28, 1951, he married Eleanor Momerak at Golden Valley Lutheran in rural Park River, ND. Eleanor passed away on January 31, 1981. He later married Fern Peterson on June 24, 1995, at Cavalier, ND. Fern passed away on March 31, 2013.
He was a member of the Hoople Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years, the Hoople Ambulance Service and served on the First Lutheran Church Council. Things he enjoyed were taking care of the fire trucks, having coffee with his friends and loved feeding the birds.
Survivors include his children: Allen (Penny) Fedje, Grenville, SD, Lowell Fedje, Hoople, ND, Susan(Bruce) Otto, Crystal, ND, Linda (Earl) Otto, Crystal, ND; step-children: Arnold (Sandra) Peterson, Cavalier, Mary ( Rick) English, Grafton, ND; sisters: Geraldine (Hagen) Grommesh, Fargo, ND, Earlyce (Lloyd) Pladson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Joyce (LaVoy) Olson, Hoople; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his parents.
Clergy, Rev. Patrick Torbet; Music: Doug Olson, Soloist and Naomi Hurtt, Accompanist; Casket Bearers: Brian Fedje, Jason Knoll, Dan O'Toole, Scott Otto, David Sigler, Brandon Snodgrass, Justin Stocke.
