Lucille M. Heck

Lucille M. Heck, 90, of Nekoma, ND, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Villa Maria in Fargo, ND.

Lucille Marion was born December 26, 1927, to Oscar and Loretta (Moen) Gronhovd. She attended school in Highland Township and graduated from Nekoma High School. On December 12, 1946, she married Robert Heck at Nekoma Lutheran Church in Nekoma. They lived in Perry Township and farmed Robert’s father’s land until 1950 when they moved in to Nekoma. Lucille worked various jobs in the Langdon area and as a clerk for the US Postal Service in Nekoma until September of 1992 when she retired. After Robert’s passing in 2004, she continued to live in Nekoma until moving to Fargo.

Lucille was a wonderful cook and baker. She was a people-person and loved to visit with family, friends, and even strangers. She seemed to always find a connection to someone. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, playing games like Whist and Scrabble, and watching her kids and grandkids playing sports. She also had a great sense of humor. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and Nekoma Lutheran Church.

Surviving Lucille are her children: Greg (Barb) of Bloomington, MN, Tom (Pam) of Jamestown, ND, Doug (Linda) of Langdon, Jeff (Robin) of Auburn, CA, Renae (Dennis) Heger of West Fargo, ND, and Brad (Sue Ann) of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren: Kristin, Matt, Luke, Suzy, Brendan, Danny, Dylan, Madelyn, Grace; great-grandchildren: Brandon, Ambrose, Hayden, Elsie, Emmy; and sisters: Phyllis (Jim) Chernich of Hoffman Estates, IL, Gladys Bredeson of Edmore, ND, Shirley Howatt of Los Angeles, CA, Carol (Roger) Johnston of Nekoma, ND.

She was preceded in death by husband Robert, her parents, brother Orland (Kaye), an infant brother, and brother-in-law Bert Bredeson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Nekoma Lutheran Church in Nekoma, ND. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND.
