Lucille A. Cranston, 100, Cavalier, North Dakota passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, North Dakota. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, March 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Lucille was born on November 21, 1914, at Fargo, North Dakota to Louis and Olive (Provost) Bailly. She was raised on the family farm north of Cavalier.
Lucille graduated from New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo, ND in 1938. Following her graduation she worked at the Or and A Beauty Shop in Cavalier. On September 8, 1940, she married James Cranston and they farmed south of Cavalier.
Her many hobbies included crocheting, embroidering, assembling jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo, Yahtze and cards. She loved gardening and especially enjoyed her rose garden. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lucille is survived by her daughters; Pat (Tom) Brown, Sartell, MN and Susan (Richard) Mattson, Billings, MT; grandchildren: Amy Laverman, Jeff Mattson, Penny Brown, Dan Mattson, James Brown, Brian Mattson, and Melodee Skiles; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marie Dalzell and Isabelle Wankel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, November 18, 2006; her parents; siblings; Dorothy Toliver, Frances Thompson, Everett, Marcel, Edmond and Gordon Bailly.
