Louise Stevens, 93, of Langdon, ND passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.
Louise Marcelin was born in Olga Township of Cavalier County on April 2, 1921 to George and Josephine Marcelin, the youngest of four girls. She was raised on her parents' farm and attended the Olga Catholic School her first 8 grades and then went to school in Park River for a period of time.
Louise married James Stevens on November 18, 1941. They farmed and raised livestock in South Olga Township, taking over Louiseââ¬â¢s family farm. Louise and James bought a house in October 1982 and moved to Langdon. James passed away in April 2000. Louise moved into Wheatland Estates in December 2001 and became a resident of Maple Manor Care Center in November 2012.
Louise was very busy gardening and canning for her large family and loved playing cards with family and friends. She was also a very avid BINGO player and enjoyed scrapbooking through the years. She knitted/crocheted many mittens, scarves, and dish cloths for family and friends. She was active in Olga Homemakers, Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church in Olga and in their altar society and was treasurer of South Olga Township for many years. When she moved to Langdon, she was a member of the St. Alphonsus Church Altar Society.
Louise is survived by her nine children: Wallace (Linda Hough) Stevens of Langdon, Robert (Mavis Halstensgard) Stevens of Dickinson, ND, Sally (Carlyle) Hillstrom of Mandan, ND, Donna (Kenneth) Schill of Hannah, ND, William (Bill) Stevens of Evansville, IN, Gary (Anita Denault) Stevens of Cavalier, ND, Dale Stevens of Cavalier, Daryl (Beverly Follman) Stevens of Parshall, ND and Connie (Rodney) Howatt of Langdon; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Keith (June) Stevens; and sisters-in-law Selma Stevens and Lorraine Stevens.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, sisters: Fern Chaput, Leda Cleary, Alma Lebrun; infant granddaughter Brenda Stevens and infant great-grandson Christopher Mager.
Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 1 from 5-7:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church with the Rosary starting at 6:30 and a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour before service time on Friday at the church.
