Louis E. Longie, age 83 of Walhalla, ND, died on Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home in Walhalla. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday.
Louis Edward Longie, the son of Joe and Pauline (Lafferty) Longie, was born on July 2, 1924 at Walhalla, North Dakota. He was born and raised in Walhalla, and received his education there.
As a young man, Louie worked around the Walhalla area on various farms, and then relocated to Seattle, Washington where he worked until retiring in 1990.
He returned to Walhalla and has made his home here since that time.
Louie enjoyed his home and his daily trips around town to see his friends.
He leaves to mourn his passing one son: David (Christine) Longie of Minneapolis, MN; two daughters: Kim Klein of Williston, ND and Tammy (Terry) Tate of Fargo, ND; eleven grandchildren: Brandy, Jeff, Ian, Teressa, Gina, Angela, Shane, Patrick, Robbie, Jason, and Christine; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Art, Hector, Gene, and Larry; and three sisters: Isabel, Yvonne, and Lena.
