Loretta Roppel

Loretta Roppel, 79, of Alsen, ND passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

Loretta was born July 4, 1933 to Alvin and Marie (Dumas) Schwartz. She was raised in Walhalla. Loretta worked in Langdon at the Wagon Wheel prior to her marriage. Loretta was united in marriage to George Roppel on December 31, 1951 at Grand Forks, ND. They made their home on a farm one mile north of Alsen. They moved into Alsen in 1967. Loretta ran the Alsen Café for a time and worked for Pan Am at the ABM Missile Site in Nekoma. Loretta was a hard working woman who gave her all. She was always willing to help others. She enjoyed curling for many years, and her dogs were very special to her. Loretta loved her nieces and nephews as her own. George passed away in February of 1985,and she continued to make her home in Alsen.

Loretta is survived by her siblings: Lucille Erickson of Walhalla, Raymond Schwartz of Grand Forks, ND, Gilbert Schwartz of Buffalo, MN; sisters-in-law: Ann Roppel of Alsen, ND, Alida Roppel of Langdon, ND; brother-in-law Lloyd Albrecht of Munich, ND; special friend Gordy Boatman of Alsen, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, and siblings Richard Schwartz, Alex Schwartz, Angeline Kalis and Eleanor Kalis.

VISITATION will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012, from 5 to 7pm at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 1:30pm at the Brooks Funeral Home Chapel of Langdon, ND with Pastor Norm Economy officiating.

INTERMENT Alsen Cemetery, Alsen, ND.
