Lois Faye Olason, 85, of Grafton, ND passed away Friday, May 22, 2015, at the Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton, where she had resided since February 2014. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held in the Vidalin Cemetery, Hensel, ND.
Lois was born on November 11, 1929 to Edward and Mary (Farol) Markel in Hoople, ND. She grew up in the Hensel area and attended rural school.
On November 18, 1949, she married John Olason. After their marriage they farmed in the Hensel area and in 2001 she moved to Grafton. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, as well as, a very proud grandmother, great-grandmother, step-grandmother, great step-grandmother and great-great step-grandmother. Being a devoted wife, she cooked and delivered many meals to the field for her husband and workers.
Survivors include her daughters: Jody Myers, and Tracey Olason, both of Grafton; grandson, Brian (Tabitha) Myers; great-grandchildren: Preston and Brinley; siblings: Duane (Shirley) Markel and Lucille (Joe) Breeze all of Washington; brother-in-law, David Sobolik of Texas; step-grandchild, Angie (Doug) Carpenter of Iowa; great step-grandchilren: Tia McElvain and Shailey Carpenter both of Iowa; great-great-step-grandson, Cash McElvain of Iowa, and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John; sister, Gladys Sobolik, and son-in-law, Tom Myers.
