Lloyd Johnston

Lloyd Johnston, 76, of Nekoma, ND passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

Lloyd Douglas Johnston was born August 19, 1931, at Grafton, ND, to Harvey and Dorothy (Aitken) Johnston. He grew up in Nekoma where he graduated from Nekoma High School in the class of 1949. He went on to attend college at Minot State and Telegraph School in Montana. Lloyd worked for the Great Northern Railroad for a short time in the early 1950’s. Lloyd entered the United States Air Force on November 29, 1951. He and Joyce Knutson were united in marriage on August 22, 1952. Lloyd was Honorably discharged on November 28, 1955. He attended electronics school and worked for Remington Rand in 1956. From 1956 until his retirement in 1992 he worked for several different companies maintaining computers. After living in many parts of the country, Lloyd and Joyce returned to Nekoma in 1974 where Lloyd worked for the ABM Missile Site and he farmed until 1996. He and Joyce enjoyed square dancing for many years and he had an avid interest in restoring old cars. Lloyd was active in the Presbyterian Church were he held many offices and served on the Nekoma School Board.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of Nekoma, children: Mark (Diedre) Johnston of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; Laura (Gregory) Bidanset of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Thomas (Karene) Johnston of Maple Grove, MN; six grandchildren: Sarah (Gary) Lupton, Jonathan Bidanset, Anna Bidanset, Paul Bidanset, Mikki Johnston, Hannah Johnston, one great-grandchild: Elisabeth Lupton, brothers: Roger (Carol) Johnston of Nekoma, ND, Haroild (Jann) Johnston of Landley, WA, sisters: Jean (Marvin) Moen of Edmore, ND and Barbara (Dennis) Luhmann of Langdon, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Douglas.

PRAYER SERVICE 5:00pm Sunday February 17, 2008 with visitation for one hour before the time of services at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

FUNERAL SERVICES 2:00pm Monday February 18, 2008 with visitation for one hour before the time of services at the United Methodist Church of Langdon, ND.
