Lillian Soderstrom, 97, of Devils Lake, ND formerly of the Langdon area passed away Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center of Devils Lake, ND.
Lillian Welsh was born May 24, 1911 at Harvey Township, Cavalier County to Caroline (Dunford) and James ââ¬ÅBertââ¬Å¥ Welsh. She grew up and was educated in Harvey Township. She graduated from Langdon high School in the class of 1929 and went on to attend Mayville State College. She taught in several of the one room school houses in the rural Langdon area.
Lillian was united in marriage to Raymond George Soderstrom on October 27, 1934 at Langdon, ND. They moved to Harvey Township where they made their home, farmed and raised their family. They were members of the Harvey Centre Methodist Church. After retiring from farming Lillian worked at the Maple Manor Care Center for a number of years. Raymond passed away October 22, 1981. She continued to make her home in Langdon where she attended the United Methodist Church of Langdon. She moved to Devils Lake in 2003.
Lillian is survived by her son Charles (Jonielle) Soderstrom of Devils Lake, ND, daughter-in-law Sally Soderstrom of El Paso, TX, grandchildren: Caroline Soderstrom of El Paso, TX; Elizabeth (David) Havens of Dallas, TX; Jocelyn Soderstrom of Devils Lake, ND and Shane (Brook) Soderstrom of Orfordville, WI, great-grandchildren; Carsyn, Joshua and Ian Soderstrom all of Orfordville, WI and Garrett Soderstrom of Devils Lake, ND; Brother-in-law Gerald Peterson of Langdon, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, son Arthur, sisters: Blanche Shortridge, Helen Kitchin, Lois Peterson, her twin Vivian Soderstrom, and an infant sister Mary, her brothers; Ralph and Marcus.
VISITATION will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:30pm at the United Methodist Church of Langdon, ND.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00pm Sunday Evening at the Church.
Visitation will also be held for one hour before the funeral services at the church on Monday.
SERVICES will be held at 10:30 am on Monday September 22, 2008 at the United Methodist Church of Langdon.
INTERMENT will take place at the Harvey Centre Cemetery, Rural Langdon, ND.
