Lillian Gibney age 79 of Cavalier, ND died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21st from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Lillian Dietrich was born May 9, 1928, near St. Thomas, ND to Henry and Ella (Steinke) Dietrich. She grew up in the St. Thomas and Cavalier area and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1946.
On April 10, 1947, she married James R. Gibney at Neche, ND. After their marriage they lived at Buffalo, ND, Roseau, MN area, Hensel and Cavalier. She worked at Polaris Industries and was a seamstress at the Cavalier Dry Cleaners. Jim died on February 9, 1997.
She is survived by her children, Alvin Gibney, Babbitt, MN; Allan Gibney and James (Dianne) Gibney all of Minneapolis, MN; Delyte (Tim) Koropatnicki, Pingree, ND; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Clarence (Lillian) Dietrich, Cedarburg, WI; Barbara Vollrath, Cavalier, ND; Ella Ganssle, Grand Forks, ND; Elaine Reindeau, Redding, CA.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, two grandsons, one great granddaughter, nine brothers, and three sisters.
