Leonard "Lenny" Winkler

Leonard August Winkler was born July 24, 1943, at Grafton, ND to William and Hedwig "Hattie" (Stark) Winkler. He grew up in the Cavalier area where he attended school. Lenny worked for various carpenters in the Cavalier area. His love of music was evident having played in the Westerners Band for 25 years. He was grandpa to every small child that visited his home and thought a lot of his nieces and nephews.
On March 23, 1962, he married Carolyn Doyle at Leroy, ND.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; daughters: Sandy (Norman) Becker, Cavalier and Darlene (Mark) Kihne, Tea, SD; grandchildren: Krystal (Logan) Al-Chokhachi, Zachary Landon (Abby Warner), and Anthony Kihne; step grandson, Kenny (Jen) Johnson; siblings: Carl (Roseanne) Winkler and Dorothy (Wally) Nordstrom, all of Cavalier.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Margaret Nordstrom; brother, Reinhold Winkler; and five infant siblings.

Leonard A. Winkler, age 67, of Cavalier, ND, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Leroy, ND.
