Leona O'Hara age 76 of Pembina, ND died on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pembina Pioneer United Methodist Church, Pembina, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church in Pembina. Burial in the Pembina Cemetery.
Leona Bill was born December 9, 1932, at Cavalier, ND to Dave and Lora (Waters) Bill. She grew up in the McArthur area and attended the McArthur and Ottem School Districts.
On June 1, 1949, she married Charles Vernon "Butch" O'Hara at the Pembina Pioneer United Methodist Church. They lived at Pembina, where Leona operated a café for several years. She then worked at Motor Coach Industries until her retirement in 1997. Butch passed away on August 12, 1999.
She was a member of the Pembina Pioneer United Methodist Church , Pembina Red Hats, Kern-Thompson American Legion Auxiliary, Pembina Senior Citizens, and Fort Pembina Historical Society.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Jan) O'Hara and Frank (Barb) O'Hara, all of Pembina, grandchildren, Shannon (Chad) Cosley, Patrick O'Hara, David O'Hara, and Samantha O'Hara, great grandchildren, T.J, Grant, and Wes Cosley, sister, Annabelle Kern, Raymond, MN.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Elaine Nelson, and infant brother, Wm. Curtis Bill.
Clergy: Rev. Russell Whaley
Casket Bearers: Leona's Granchidlren, Shannon Cosley, Patrick O'Hara, David O'Hara, and Samantha O'Hara.
Honorary Pallbearers: All of Leona's Family.
Music: Betty Irving, Organist.
