Lena Thompson

Lena Thompson, 99, Walhalla, ND died March 6, 2009 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Walhalla Assembly of God Church, Walhalla. Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, from 5:00-7:00 pm on Mondy, March 9, 2009, and 1 hour before the time of services the church. Burial in the Poplar Grove Cemetery, rural Walhalla, ND.
Lena Kalis was born August 12, 1909, near Walhalla, ND to Victor and Eugenie (Parren) Kalis. She grew up and attended school in Freemont Township.
On January 29, 1931, she married Russell Thompson at Vang, ND. After their marriage they lived and farmed in North Olga Township. Russell passed away on July 16, 1981. In November of 2007, she moved into Walhalla.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Jean) Thompson, Aitkin, MN, Ivy (Carl) Kartes, Walhalla, ND, Theresa Hoffarth, Langdon, ND, Valentine (Sharon) Thompson, Wyoming, MN, Darlene (Richard) Simmons, Pembina, ND, 24 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, sons, Donald and Francis Thompson, daughter, Marguerite Thompson, grandchildren, Michael and Shelly Thompson, five brothers, and two sisters.
Clergy: Pastor Dann Pageler.
Casket Bearers: Patrick Hoffarth, Chuck Kartes, Jeremy Kartes, Kelly Thompson, Lionel Thompson, and Lonnie Thompson.
Music: Sharon Carpenter, Organist and Soloist.
