Lea Bailly, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla, ND.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla, with burial in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home.

Lea Nora Dame was born on December 4, 1924 at Elm Point near Walhalla, the youngest of five children of Phil and Emma (Morin) Dame. She attended Fremont Hall country school, then attended high school in Walhalla and Grafton. After graduation, Lea attended business school in Aberdeen, SD. She returned to Walhalla and worked as a bookkeeper at JC Penney until her marriage to Everette Bailly on October 31, 1949. They farmed and raised their four children near Leroy, ND, moving to Walhalla after retiring in 1974 after 25 years of marriage.

Lea was a devoted Catholic and active in the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at the Pembilier Nursing Center for many years, winning North Dakota Volunteer of the Year. She enjoyed embroidery, poem-writing, and her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Richard Bailly and Michael (Debbie) Bailly, both of Walhalla; Denise (Hank) DeNomme of Woodland Park, CO; Janet (Damian) Dvorak of Park River, ND; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband on April 14, 2008, and siblings Evelyn Strom, Bert Dame, Raymond Dame, and Leonard Dame.

Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Jude Okafor. Casketbearers: grandsons Chad Weiner, Matthew Bailly, Jeremiah Bailly, Joshua Bailly, Marcus Bailly, Daniel Dvorak, David Dvorak, and Luke Dvorak. Music: Bernadine Kopf, Organist and Amy Carignan, Soloist.
