Lawrence Klein

Lawrence Klein, 80, of Langdon, ND passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012 surrounded by his family at his home in Langdon.

Lawrence was born on January 9, 1932 to Andrew and Myrtle (Harpestad) Klein in Henderson Township near Munich, ND. He was active in the United States Army as a medic from 1952-1954. On July 1, 1955, he married Marion Machart in Langdon. Lawrence worked for Dakota Implement in Devils Lake for many years and owned his own garage in Alsen. Lawrence & Marion lived in Alsen until 1977 when they moved to Langdon. Lawrence worked at Phelps Motors while he and Marion raised their seven children. Marion passed away on June 17, 1994. Lawrence worked at Alsen Elevator after his retirement. On January 18, 2001, Lawrence married Cheri Breckenridge. They made their home in Langdon.

Lawrence enjoyed camping and his puppies. He was a member of the American Legion, Langdon Eagles Club, and Emmanuel Evangelical Church of Langdon.

Lawrence is survived by his wife: Cheri of Langdon; seven children: Kevin (Julie) of Cedar Falls, IA, Kent (Barbara) of Arlington, TX, Jerry of Langdon, ND, Jay of Minot, ND, Dennis (Darcy) of Grand Forks, ND, Daniel (Diane) of Minot, ND, Lori (Joe) Illerbrunn of Langdon, ND; three step-children: Tina (Patrick) Kvien of Roseau, MN, Scott Breckenridge of Roseau, MN, Jon Breckenridge of Jamestown, 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren; brothers: Leonard (Carolyn) of Munich, ND, Dwayne (Shirley) of Langdon, Merril (LouAnn) of Tolna, ND, Darrol (Marlene) of Minot, ND, Alvin (Barb) of Alsen, ND, Richard (Audrey) of Euless, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Marion, father Andrew, mother Myrtle and a nephew Randy Klein.

Visitation will take place from 5-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 prayer service on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon.
