Lawrence Belanus

Lawrence M. Belanus , 80, of Walhalla, ND passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Walhalla Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held at the church, Friday, Sept 30, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service and Masonic service. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla.
Lawrence Matthew Belanus was born December 22, 1930, at Walhalla, ND to Matthew and Margaret (Bartholomew) Belanus. He grew up in Walhalla where he attended school. After working at the dairy and farming with his father, he worked construction in the Walhalla area. In 1965, he went to work for Motor Coach Industries retiring in 1992. Lawrence loved woodworking and camping at Lake Metigoshe. He was a member of the Eastern Star, Walhalla and Tongue River Masonic Lodges, Scottish Rites, Kem Temple Shrine, and Walhalla Ministerial Association. He was also a lifelong member of St. Peters Episcopal Church.
On July 24, 1953, he married Darlene Trennum at Walhalla. She survives as do his children: Margaret (Paul) Zaharia, Minot, ND, Marilyn (Gary) Beier, Pekin, ND, Michael (Nancy) Belanus, Walhalla, Marlene (Wayne) Olson, Ruby, ND, Melissa (James) Malo, Crookston, MN, Melanie (Dale) Pecka, Conway, ND; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Barry Belanus.
