LaVerne LaPorte

LaVerne LaPorte, 73, of Osnabrock, ND, passed away January 4, 2013, at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

LaVerne was born on March 21, 1939 in Mt. Carmel Township, Cavalier County, to George Joseph and Mary Lavina (Schwartz) LaPorte. He grew up in the Mt. Carmel and Olga areas. LaVerne and Patricia Styles were united in marriage in 1962. They became the parents of a son, Bradley, and a daughter, Sheila. In the early days LaVerne was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. He spent some time farming for George Balsdon and Mat Bisenius. He worked for Mayo Construction, Close Construction, Suncat Construction of Milton and most recently for Cenex Harvest States, retiring in 2011. LaVerne was a member of the Knights of Pythias and St. Edward’s Catholic Church of Nekoma, ND.

LaVerne is survived by his wife Pat of Osnabrock, ND; son Bradley (Sharon) LaPorte of Fergus Falls, MN; daughter Sheila M. LaPorte of Crookston, MN; grandchildren: Kayla LaPorte, Kyle LaPorte, Jay LaPorte, Forrest LaPorte Lewis, Harrison LaPorte Lewis, Chantal LaPorte Lewis, Jenna LaPorte; and siblings: Merlin LaPorte of Concrete, ND, Daryl (Alverna) LaPorte of Walhalla, ND, Gary LaPorte of Langdon, ND, Marge Beauchamp of Osnabrock, ND, Karen LaPorte of Concrete, ND, Judy LaPorte of Concrete, ND, and Marlene LaPorte of Concrete, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Ronald, Larry, Les, Joyce, Shirley, Kenneth and brother-in-law Harvey Beauchamp.

Visitation will take place from 5pm to 7pm on SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 2013 at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES will be held on SUNDAY, JANUARY 13, 2013 AT 1:00 PM, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church of Nekoma, ND.

INTERMENT will take place in the spring.
