Lavern B. Renwick, 91, of Fargo, ND and formerly of Cavalier, ND
passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Bethany on 42nd in
Fargo. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at
2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation
will be at the church for one hour before the time of services. A
Masonic service will be held Wednesday, August 17th at 2:00 p.m. at
the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND with burial at the Bruce
Cemetery, Neche, ND.
Lavern was born November 3, 1919, to Boyd and Edith (Morrison)
Renwick. He grew up in the Neche area and graduated from Cavalier
High School. After attending the Agriculture School in Fargo, he was
drafted into the U.S. Army on February 25, 1944, where he served in
the South Pacific. Following his discharge from the service on
November 4, 1945, he returned to the Neche area where he farmed. In
the winter months he worked at Salaba Drug in Cavalier.
On June 18, 1947, he married Grace Ray at the Glasston
Presbyterian Church, Glasston, ND. In December of 1998, they moved
to Fargo.
He was a member of First United Methodist Churches of Cavalier
and Fargo, Cavalier American Legion, the D.A.V. and V.F.W. of Fargo,
Tongue River Masonic Lodge, Cavalier, Scottish Rite, Langdon, Kem
Temple Shrine, Grand Forks, and the Order of Eastern Star. Lavern
was also a member of the Farm Bureau and an avid supporter of the
Republican Party.
Survivors include his wife, Grace; daughters: JoRae (Bob)
O'Neil, Maple Grove, MN and Kathy (Bob) Aller, Bismarck, ND
grandchildren: Bryan O'Neil, Jennifer O'Neil, Meghan (Brandon)
Lerch, and Jeffrey Aller; great grandchild, Avery John Lerch;
sisters: Fern Shahane, Fargo and Muriel Walters, Tampa, FL.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Esau Renwick;
and sisters, Helen Tongen and Jean Renwick.
Clergy: Rev. Richard Zeck and Rev. Harold Tongen.
Music: Joe Hinkle, Soloist, Donna Atherton, Organist.
Casket bearers: Jeffery Aller, Ray Brown, Warren Hinkle, Brandon Lerch, Bruce Morrison, Mark Morrison, Bryan O' Neil, and Howard Ray.
