Kenneth E. Jacobson age 72, formerly of Grand Forks, ND died on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at his home in Mesa, AZ. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, November 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial in the Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, ND.
Kenneth was born June 30, 1937, at Neche, ND to Earl T. and Margaret (Karel) Jacobson. He served in the U.S. Army for four years and was active in the American Legion, Jaycee's, Lions Club, and as a volunteer fireman. Ken was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mesa.
Ken worked much of his life as a self-employed carpenter. The quality of his work and his attention to detail were widely known, resulting in a wide array of jobs throughout his career.
On December 9, 1976, he married Mary Switzer at Coeur D Alene, Idaho. She survives, as do his children, Michelle (Rick) Else, Grand Forks, ND, Chad (Sue) Peterson, Northwood, ND, and Tami Hanson (Terry Donarski), Stephen, MN; grandchildren, Nicholas, Austin (Jeramie), Jace, and Erik Peterson, Amber Peterson, Kris and Brittany Bommersbach, and Jordan Hanson; brothers, Verdell (Linda) Jacobson, Jamestown, ND and Wayne Christianson, Park River, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Helen.
Clergy: Rev. John Werth.
Casket Bearers: Nicholas Peterson, Austin and Jeramie Peterson, Jace Peterson, Erik Peterson, Amber Peterson, Brett Kuznia, Kris Bommersbach, Brittany Dommersbach, Peter Hougard, and Jordan Hanson.
Music: Chad Peterson, Bill Oakes, and Bryce Oakes, trio and Kim Cull, pianist.
