Kay (Patricia Kay) Olson, 75, of Glasston, ND passed away Tuesday, March 29th, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis. Kay was born on July 16, 1940 in Langdon, ND to Gudrun (Johannson) and Wilfred Johnson. She grew up in the Hallson area and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1958. She attended Mayville State College before her marriage to Robert L. Olson of Glasston, ND on November 29th 1959 in Cavalier, ND. She worked for many years at the American Crystal Hamilton scale house and served as substitute postmaster for the USPS for twenty years. She was a member of the Glasston United Methodist Church, Glasston UMW and the Hamilton Homemakers. She was an accomplished seamstress, an excellent cook and baker, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, curling, going to casinos, MN Twins ballgames, and most of all spending time with her loved ones. She was affectionately known as Momma Kay or Grandma Kay to many beyond her immediate family.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob, of Glasston, ND. Her children: Jacki Kuehnel (Tim Patridge) of Grand Forks, ND, Jay Olson of Glasston, ND, Juli (Ryan) Olufson of St. Paul, MN, and son-in-law Keith Lindblad of Grafton, ND; grandchildren Lisa (Mitch) Nelson of Grafton, ND, Kayla Lindblad of Grand Forks, ND, Krystal (John Devine) of Manvel, ND, Jeremy Kuehnel, Nicholas Kuehnel and Mya Patridge of Grand Forks, ND; great grandchildren C.J. Bouldin, Zachary Nelson, Colby Nelson, a great-granddaughter due in August and three step-grandchildren Brandon, Breanna and Logan Nelson of Grafton ; siblings Stephan (Rita) Johnson of Martinez, CA, Ruth (Ken) Nielsen of Lindstrom, MN, and Don (Judy) Johnson of Cavalier, ND, her brother-in law Bert (Marlys) Olson, Cavalier, ND and Carole McShane of Wayzata, MN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jana Lindblad, siblings W.B. Johnson Jr. , Arni Johnson, Corliss Gudmundson, and great-grandson Bailey Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4th, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Trinity United Methodist Church. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to funeral services. The family wishes to thank Altru Hospice and her special caregiver, Melissa Dornhecker.
